Job Summary:

As a Radiologic Imaging Specialist at Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic, you will play a vital role in assisting radiologists and physicians with diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing patients for radiologic procedures, protecting patients, yourself, and other staff from radiation hazards, and taking X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patients for radiologic procedures, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the process.
  • Operate X-ray and fluoroscopic equipment, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Position patients and take X-rays of specific body parts as requested by physicians, using your knowledge of anatomy and physiology to ensure accurate results.
  • Develop and process radiological film, checking X-rays for clarity and retaking as needed.
  • Distribute X-rays to appropriate medical staff, maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure X-ray units meet required standards, complying with safety regulations and departmental policies.
  • Clean, maintain, and make minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, determining when repairs are necessary.
  • Maintain radiographic supplies, film, and order as needed, ensuring a smooth operation of the radiology unit.

Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in radiological technology from an accredited X-ray technician program.
  • Current state X-Ray Technology certificate or license.
  • One to three years of experience as an X-ray technician, preferably in a medical practice environment.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist registration preferred.

Performance Requirements:
  • Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement.
  • Knowledge of radiology equipment, including safety hazards common to radiology.
  • Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisors.
  • Skill in following infection control and radiological safety procedures.
  • Ability to lift and position patients for X-ray procedures, using your physical and mental abilities to perform tasks associated with an X-ray technician.
  • Ability to notice detail in drawings and differences in shapes and shadings.
  • Ability to read and write instructions, comprehend simple instructions, and present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to competently use Microsoft Office.

Work Environment:
  • Radiological unit, exposing you to disease, radiation, and toxic chemicals in the course of performing your work.

Mental/Physical Requirements:
  • Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform tasks normally associated with an X-ray technician, including standing for six to eight hours per day, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching above the shoulders, twisting, turning, kneeling, and pushing and pulling heavy equipment and transferring patients.
