The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska seeks a dedicated Elder Abuse Advocate to join our team. As an advocate, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of Native American elders who are victims of domestic violence. Your primary goal will be to develop and implement effective advocacy programs that provide immediate support and resources to these individuals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement advocacy services for elder victims of domestic violence.
- Collaborate with community organizations and tribal agencies to provide emergency shelter and other essential resources.
- Maintain accurate records of client needs and coordinate services with partner agencies.
- Promote community awareness about elder abuse through presentations, social media, and outreach events.
- Provide referrals to medical services, counseling, law enforcement, legal services, housing, and social services.
- Organize meetings with tribal and partnering service providers, staff, elders, and families to educate them on elder abuse prevention, victim rights, laws, and available resources.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in counseling, human services, or related field.
- One year experience working with survivors of domestic violence, family violence, or sexual assault.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively throughout the Ponca Service Delivery Area.
Estimated Salary Range: $43,411 - $64,213 per annum.
