Position Overview: Wastewater Treatment Operator III

As a key player in the operations of Liberty Utilities, the Wastewater Treatment Operator III is responsible for the effective management and enhancement of water treatment facilities. Reporting directly to the Operations Supervisor, this role involves performing critical technical and mechanical duties to ensure the seamless functioning and upkeep of treatment and conveyance systems. Your contributions will be essential in daily operations, staff training, and maintaining a strong commitment to safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the operations team to carry out daily functions, including the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment, while following established procedures.
  • Provide comprehensive training to Operators on various topics, including equipment handling, microbiology, plant process management, and safety protocols.
  • Engage in administrative tasks such as drafting plant directives, suggesting process enhancements, and investigating innovative treatment technologies.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by maintaining open lines of communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations, policies, and procedures, guaranteeing compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Perform routine and emergency operational, maintenance, construction, and repair tasks, prioritizing effectively in the field.
  • Conduct daily assessments of wastewater treatment facilities, aquifer recharge systems, and associated equipment.
  • Respond to operational emergencies as necessary, which may include on-call and shift work.
  • Provide technical and physical support to operations staff, contractors, and developers.
  • Assist customers with water-related inquiries, ensuring quality service and addressing concerns related to odors and vector control.
  • Coordinate all work activities in accordance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Guide peers and subordinates in daily operational tasks.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in plumbing, well operations, distribution, collection water, and/or wastewater treatment.
  • At least 12 months of experience as a field Operator II or in a comparable role.
  • ADEQ Grade 3 Operator License in Wastewater Treatment is mandatory.
  • In-depth knowledge of wells, pumps, motors, chlorine generators, plumbing principles, and utility enhancements.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license; a CDL may be required.
  • Ability to interpret maps, manuals, blueprints, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Strong written communication skills for maintaining daily records and reports.
  • Capability to provide occasional guidance to colleagues in the absence of a Senior Operator or Supervisor.
  • Demonstrated analytical judgment and decision-making skills in diverse work scenarios.
