Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Educator and Development Specialist to join our team at CHRISTUS Health. As a key member of our Organizational Development department, you will play a critical role in evaluating the educational needs of our clinical and non-clinical staff, developing and delivering educational content, and assessing the effectiveness of our curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the educational needs of clinical and non-clinical staff and develop targeted educational programs to meet those needs.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Management and interdisciplinary team members to design and deliver educational content, including workshops, orientation programs, and continuing education programs.
  • Assess the effectiveness of our curriculum and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Supervise staff learning experiences and provide guidance and support to ensure successful completion of educational programs.
  • Lead approved continuing education programs and maintain program participant records.
  • Ensure the protection of human rights and patient confidentiality in all educational programs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree preferred.
  • Current New Mexico RN license required.
  • ANCC certification in Nursing Continuing Education/Staff Development preferred.
  • BLS certification is mandatory, and BLS instructor certification is highly recommended within 6 months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years of teaching experience in nursing (unit-based or clinical ladder experience included).
  • Four years of RN experience in acute care settings is necessary.
  • A BSN can substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Work Environment:

This position involves working in a primarily patient care setting (70%) and occasional office or classroom setting (30%). The physical demands of this role include walking, standing, sitting, patient care activities, occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling. Moving educational materials and equipment may be required. Flexible scheduling is essential.
