Rumpke of Ohio, Inc. is seeking a skilled and physically fit individual to join our team as a Landfill Laborer. This role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our landfill facilities, ensuring a healthy and productive work environment for our employees and customers.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain the grounds and facilities of the landfill, including mowing, trimming, and picking up trash and debris.
- Operate heavy equipment, such as skid-steer loaders and sweepers, to maintain the landfill's infrastructure.
- Assist with the maintenance of the odor control system and the placement of straw bales in ditches and on hills.
- Perform custodial duties in the offices and maintenance shops, including cleaning and organizing equipment and supplies.
- Assist with the application of Alternate Daily Cover (ADC) and other waste management tasks as needed.
- Work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, adhering to all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, and climbing, in a variety of weather conditions.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to operate heavy equipment.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills and ability to interact with internal and external customers.
- Ability to read and speak English fluently.
- Exposure to high traffic conditions and tight driving areas.
- Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Valid driver's license (if applicable).
