Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Lead Clerk to join our team. As a Lead Clerk, you will be responsible for assisting management with the operations of the store, leading by example, and assisting the department manager in general department operations as directed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist management with the operations of the store, including performing clerk duties in the designated department (grocery or freight)
  • Lead by example and assist the department manager in general department operations as directed
  • Provide customer service by performing the duties of a clerk in the designated department (grocery or freight)
  • Handle customer complaints and requests, approve checks, sell gift certificates, issue refunds, and answer customer questions
  • Monitor area activities, including customer traffic flow, coverage of checkout lanes, etc.
  • Maintain cleanliness and eye-appeal of work area, storage area, equipment, and retail displays according to company policy and legal regulations
  • Assist immediate supervisor as needed or directed
  • Assist clerks by providing direction and leadership, demonstrating and performing clerk responsibilities and assigned tasks, and answering employee questions
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to lead by example and provide direction and leadership to other employees
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Ability to work any scheduled work shifts, including evenings, graveyard, overnight, weekends, and holidays
