Job Title: Roadside Motorist Patroller

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Roadside Motorist Patroller to join our team at AECOM. As a key member of our CHAMP program, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of motorists traveling on our interstates by clearing roadways of debris, reporting maintenance issues, and providing assistance to stranded drivers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patrol and monitor a segment of interstate roadway in an assigned region, identifying potential hazards and taking corrective action as needed.
  • Provide professional and courteous assistance to motorists in need, including jump-starting vehicles, providing fuel, and offering minor first aid.
  • Monitor and report roadway deficiencies to dispatch or district offices, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Work under direct supervision, performing routine and repetitive duties with a focus on quality customer service.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate (GED) or 1 year of relevant work experience in lieu of education.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record, including no suspension of license in the last 5 years.
  • Pass a State and Federal criminal history/security and motor vehicle background checks.
  • Participate in monthly MVR monitoring program and maintain a satisfactory driving record as a condition of employment.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and successfully participate in the program's mandatory random drug screening process.
  • Possess or be able and willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Working knowledge of basic automotive repair.
  • Willingness to be on call 24/7 and respond to after-hours call outs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years of driving experience.
  • Experience in working in roadway traffic environment, and good customer service.
  • Basic knowledge of operations of emergency services.
  • Basic knowledge of highway maintenance activities.
  • Basic knowledge in minor auto repairs and automotive preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and manage own time.
  • Demonstrated ability to reason and make good sound decision based on narrowly defined criteria or guidelines.
  • Ability to guide or direct others at incident scenes.
  • Ability to gather and disseminate information effectively.
