Job Summary

As a Quality Assurance Engineer at Bechtel Plant Machinery, you will perform quality engineering functions and make engineering decisions for all aspects of assigned tasks.

Cognizant areas may include planning, analyzing, documenting, and inspection of nuclear, mechanical, structural, or electrical components, systems, equipment, and facilities.

Work may include chemical or materials evaluations, design reviews, operations support, engineering methods and software development, and analysis/auditing of vendor's procedures and systems for quality control or manufacturing surveillance.

This position requires knowledge and application of engineering techniques, principles and practices employed in the area of assignment. Individual is responsible to maintain the technical excellence of the Company within the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze the quality programs, systems, and procedures of suppliers to assess their capability to manufacture quality components.
  • Conduct audits of manufacturing, testing, and inspection processes at suppliers' facilities to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Review contracts to ensure proper application of requirements.
  • Review supplier drawings and procedures for compliance with contract requirements.
  • Conduct in-process surveillance of manufacturing processes at suppliers' facilities to ensure contract and procedural compliance.
  • Re-Inspect components after acceptance by suppliers.
  • Support resolution of technical and quality issues at the supplier.
  • Interface with various internal and external stakeholders to support planning and execution of supplier oversight.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum Two (2) years of relevant experience.
  • An advanced degree may be considered in lieu of some year(s) of experience.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred for newer college graduates.
  • Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
