Position Description
As a Cardiovascular Surgical Technician, you will play a crucial role in the operating room, assisting surgeons during cardiovascular procedures.
Shift: Full Time, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Location: Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital, renowned for its advanced cardiovascular services.
Our facility features 6 operating rooms, including a hybrid room, and is recognized as a Level 1 Cardiac Center, handling over 1200 heart surgeries annually.
This role requires a commitment to full-time hours with on-call responsibilities.
We are looking for a skilled Cardiovascular Surgical Technician who possesses extensive experience in patient care and a thorough understanding of the specific needs of cardiovascular patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the surgeon under both direct and indirect supervision throughout preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative procedures.
- Provide support in critical functions such as exposure, hemostasis, and closure, ensuring safe operations with optimal patient outcomes.
- Perform essential tasks including clamping and cauterizing vessels, ligating tissues, and applying hemostatic agents.
- Utilize appropriate techniques for closing body planes and managing sutures effectively.
- Apply suitable wound dressings and ensure patient safety by guarding against nerve damage and impaired circulation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation and/or certification from surgical assisting programs accredited by ARC/STSA.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a surgical assistant or first assistant is required, with specialized experience preferred.
- Experience in cardiovascular operating rooms is essential; robotics experience is a plus.
