Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team at HP Hood LLC. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for conducting physical, biological, chemical, and organoleptic testing of finished products and processing samples to ensure they meet all specification requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Pull, log, and complete finished product and processing sample testing for all specification requirements on each product at the established sampling frequency.
- Maintain certification by state for Beta-Lactam antibiotic testing to the Industry Supervisor level.
- Maintain calibration of thermometers, pipettes, and scales per regulatory requirements to ensure accuracy of ongoing checks.
- Measure and maintain records of vitamin usage.
- Complete tank inventory recording butterfat, solids, acidity, and DMC at the specific frequency per management.
- Verify non-conforming product (raw or finished), properly window and tag affected product, issue hold reports and samples at time of hold from affected units where applicable.
- Coordinate resampling of hold product and completion of product disposition.
- Verify that plant equipment meets sanitation requirements prior to start up by thorough inspection and proper ATP swabbing.
- Maintain detailed records.
- Maintain laboratory supply inventory notifying QA Supervisor upon need.
- Ensure all laboratory documentation (forms, SOPs, etc.) is current and properly completed by lab personnel.
- Train Quality technicians and ensure that performance of testing meets all regulatory and internal specifications.
- Maintain shelf life/retain cooler in a clean, orderly manner.
- Bachelor's in Science preferred; Associates of Science and/or 75 credit hours towards the attainment of a Bachelor's in Science required.
- Must have been in current position for at least one year, or have your manager's approval.
- Must have satisfactory job performance in current position.
- Must have no active written corrective action warning on file.
Requires afternoon and overnight availability any day of the week based on assigned shift. Requests to be scheduled off for a specific day require advance notification and approval by Supervisor/Manager.
Environmental ConcernsNormally protected from weather and temperature changes possible exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions does exist. May be subject to exposure to ingredients used in the manufacture of food products including allergens. May be subject to exposure to chemicals involved in the manufacture and sanitation of a food processing facility.
Physical Job RequirementsAbility to move throughout all areas of the facility including but not limited to office, production, and warehouse environments. Including the outside perimeter of the building. Able to wear all necessary personal protective equipment to perform job functions. Stand and/or sit continuously and perform job functions for a full shift with meal break. Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle and move items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and move objects exceeding 50 pounds with reasonable accommodations. Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions.
