We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our team at Grant Thornton. As a Tax Manager, you will play a critical role in monitoring IRS developments, judicial decisions, and other guidance to meet the complex needs of our tax practice and clients.
Key Responsibilities- Research and address technical issues specific to IRS practice and procedural issues, including tax, penalty, and interest assessments, statutes of limitations, missed elections, and IRS examination and appeals matters.
- Support in-depth tax law research and analysis to support the leader of the IRS Practice and Procedure practice and other colleagues.
- Prepare written communications to the IRS, including penalty abatement requests, private letter ruling requests, and protests.
- Work with other teams on IRS practice and procedural issues that affect other technical matters, such as corporate taxation, partnerships, international tax, mergers and acquisitions, and due diligence matters.
- Assist in resolving tax controversy disputes, including matters under the IRS centralized partnership audit regime.
- Support the development of training materials and other thought leadership to educate and promote awareness among Grant Thornton professionals on IRS practice and procedure issues.
- Keep Grant Thornton professionals apprised of significant legislative, administrative, and judicial developments in the area of IRS practice and procedure.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
- Five years of practice and procedure tax experience at a law firm, Department of the Treasury, IRS Chief Counsel, or CPA firm.
- Preferred: Licensed CPA in the state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA.
- If not CPA eligible: Licensed attorney, Enrolled agent.
- Strong understanding of IRS operations, its procedures, and its processes.
- Excellent communication, public speaking, research, and writing skills required.
- Related IRS experience preferred.
- Ability to travel as needed.
As a Tax Manager at Grant Thornton, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals and contribute to the success of our tax practice. We offer a competitive salary range of $142,600 to $213,800, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, employee assistance program, and 401(k) savings plan.
