Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a key member of the surgical services team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety in the Operating Room.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Nursing Personnel: Collaborate with nursing staff to provide quality care to patients in the Operating Room.
  • Perioperative Tasks: Perform a range of perioperative tasks, including preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures.
  • Scrub Nurse: Function as a scrub nurse under the direction of a registered professional nurse, ensuring a sterile environment and maintaining asepsis throughout the procedure.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Check and troubleshoot equipment to ensure proper functioning, and remove malfunctioning equipment from use.
  • Surgical Counts: Perform surgical counts with the circulating nurse, according to policy, to ensure accurate inventory of instruments and supplies.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses, to ensure a smooth and efficient surgical process.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Successful completion from a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologist, or graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing or of a Nursing Vocational or Nursing Technical school, and current license to practice as a Practical Nurse in New York State.
  • Certifications: AHA BLS certification required.
