Job Summary

UPMC Altoona Regional Health Services is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Technologist to perform Holter Monitors, Dexa Scans, and PFTs for Pulmonology. This role will work Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify patients properly using two identifiers and apply universal protocol when performing procedures.
  • Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results.
  • Document patient history in electronic records as required.
  • Administer PO and rectal contrast per physician orders/department policy.
  • Ensure all exams are properly coded and tracked through the RIS system, networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and charges are adequately entered.
  • Perform diagnostic radiography procedures utilizing established protocols/procedures without requiring constant supervision.
  • Utilize complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, manipulation, and documentation of image data and complete procedures according to protocol.
  • Interact with patients and coworkers, displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
  • Work as a team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
  • Perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment to adjust protocols and apply prescribed ionizing radiation appropriately.
  • Communicate instructions to patients clearly and concisely, explaining procedures to help alleviate fears and solicit cooperation.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or verification from an ARRT-approved school of completion of program and scheduled graduation date.
  • Technologists hired before graduation will have indirect supervision by an ARRT-certified diagnostic technologist until the degree is verified.
  • ARRT Registry eligible as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Must obtain radiography registry within 12 months of hire date.
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • ARRT Certificate.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
