About the Role

We're seeking a talented Software Development Manager to lead our engineering team and collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to design, develop, and test innovative automotive-shopping experiences for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build an engineering team responsible for delivering significant features and test frameworks across our new automotive shopping initiative.
  • Work directly with product management to define requirements and apply technical expertise and leadership skills to organize and guide your team to solve difficult software problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Create and execute technical goals, roadmaps, and vision that deliver amazing customer experiences and inspire engineers to build innovative, high-quality, and operationally excellent software and systems.
  • Lead the technical planning, coordination, architecture, and implementation of multiple programs across our new automotive shopping initiative.
  • Provide support and guidance to engineers in building and extending automation coverage by developing test scripts and utilities that enable testers and developers, and driving the software development process towards quality-centric methodologies.
A Day in the Life

As Software Development Manager, you and your engineering team will work alongside designers, SDEs, SDETs, program managers, and product managers to create and execute on product and tech roadmaps.

You will manage the lifecycle of your team's software, collaborating with teams across Amazon on the planning and execution of complex and highly technical projects with high impact and visibility.

About the Team

This is a critical role to deliver our product vision of innovative automotive discovery and shopping experiences on Amazon, providing customers better convenience and more selection with highest quality standards.

We're collaborating with other experienced teams at Amazon to define the future of how customers research and shop for cars online.

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
  • Looking for current or prior experience developing robust automation frameworks that support functional, performance, and API-level testing
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of software engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
