Job Title: School-Based Assistive Technology Specialist/AAC Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable School-Based Assistive Technology Specialist/AAC Specialist to join our team at Whole Child Therapy, Inc. This role is crucial in helping students achieve their full potential in an educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the assistive technology and AAC needs of students.
  • Develop and implement individualized AT and AAC plans in collaboration with educational teams.
  • Attend IEP meetings and recommend accommodations, services or AT supports as part of the student's Individualized Education Plan.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to students, teachers, and school staff on the use of assistive technology and AAC devices.
  • Collaborate with speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, special education teachers, and other professionals to ensure cohesive and effective support for students.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in assistive technology and AAC tools and strategies.
  • Document and track student progress, making necessary adjustments to plans as required.
  • Advocate for the inclusion and integration of assistive technology and AAC in educational settings.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in a related field such as Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Special Education, or Rehabilitation Engineering.
  • Certification in Assistive Technology or AAC is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with assistive technology and AAC devices in a school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of various assistive technology devices, software, and applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid CA licensure or certification as required.
