SUMMARY:
Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgical Associates, PA is on the lookout for a dedicated Physician Assistant to join our dynamic vascular surgery team. This role will involve supporting surgical procedures in the operating room, providing care in the inpatient hospital environment, and conducting office visits. Candidates should ideally possess a minimum of two years of operating room experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver high-quality patient care in a structured and timely manner.
- Implement PA care standards when planning and executing patient care.
- Effectively communicate patient conditions to physicians, management, and other healthcare staff.
- Accurately execute physician orders and document all activities promptly.
- Engage in patient and family education, assessing learning needs based on individual understanding and readiness.
- Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of each patient's cognitive, physical, emotional, and developmental maturity during assessments and care.
- Handle patient inquiries and relay any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain competencies necessary for the PA role within the designated specialty.
- Demonstrate expertise in safety protocols, aseptic techniques, and universal precautions.
- Assess, anticipate, and implement suitable care throughout the patient's treatment journey.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Correlate clinical data with patient care, ensuring care measures align with the patient's age, gender, and health status.
- Exhibit strong organizational skills and attention to detail, prioritizing tasks to adapt to the department's evolving needs.
- Document and conduct office visits and procedures according to established standards and policies, ensuring accurate EMR/EHR documentation.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, including confidentiality, infection control, safety standards, and professional appearance.
- Serve as a mentor and role model, providing guidance and leadership to other staff members.
- Understand and apply established emergency procedures effectively.
- Make informed decisions regarding center-based issues and patient care in emergencies.
- Participate in the orientation of new midlevel providers and ancillary staff as needed.
- Contribute to the development of standardized patient education programs.
- Engage in Quality Improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities for cost efficiency and enhanced care delivery.
- Work towards maintaining regulatory certification and accreditation for the center.
- Demonstrate accountability for professional practice and pursue ongoing professional development through various resources.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a current State of FL PA-C licensure.
- Maintain ACLS/BLS certification for Healthcare Providers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Hearing: Sufficient to perform job duties in person and over the phone, including the use of a stethoscope.
- Speaking: Ability to communicate clearly with patients in person and via telephone.
- Vision: Adequate visual acuity for patient examinations and reading from printed materials and screens.
- Other: Requires frequent lifting of items up to 50 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients as necessary. Adequate physical capability to perform healthcare services, including injections, with frequent bending, reaching, and standing throughout the work shift. Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids is expected.
