We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lifeguard to join our team at the City of Lafayette. As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of guests in the aquatic area while on duty.

• Continuously scan pools for patrons in distress and take prompt action to prevent accidents.
• Enforce all rules and policies, clean and maintain the facility to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
• Perform rescues and administer First Aid according to standards as needed.
• Respond quickly to emergencies and provide assistance as required.
• Act as a problem solver and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
• Enforce all City policies, pool rules, and regulations involving the operation of the pool.
• Set a good example for all aquatic employees in conduct, dress, and manners.
• Conduct routine safety checks of equipment and staff to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Ensure all paperwork, including course records and accident reports, is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Attend and participate in scheduled meetings and in-service trainings as required.
• Perform related work as required and assigned by the Head Lifeguard.

• American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certification.
• Knowledge of departmental rules and regulations concerning the aquatic area.
• Ability to prevent accidents and deal tactfully with the public.
• Sufficient strength to make rescues and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work in a loud and stressful environment and remain calm in emergency situations.
