Baptist Health is seeking a highly skilled Specialty Pharmacy Care Coordinator to join our Gastroenterology/Pulmonology team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless patient care and medication access.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify patient eligibility for prescribed specialty medications and complete benefit investigations.
- Maintain current knowledge of payer formularies and reimbursement to ensure accurate authorization and approval processes.
- Support third-party prior authorization processes and obtain necessary overrides to expedite therapy initiation.
- Monitor and maintain accurate insurance information to prevent gaps in medication therapy.
- Identify and facilitate financial assistance options to maximize copay savings and improve therapy adherence.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists, to provide comprehensive patient support.
- Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) to maintain communication between departments and ensure accurate documentation.
- Support pharmacists with in-clinic or telephonic patient activities and facilitate adherence to medications through coordinated outreach efforts.
- Coordinate patient scheduling for initial and follow-up appointments and triage patient clinical questions and third-party insurance denials to the pharmacist for intervention.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current or eligible for Kentucky pharmacy technician registration (if not already registered with the KY Board of Pharmacy, registration requires only an application and fee).
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred.
- 2+ years of pharmacy technician experience preferred.
- Prior experience with third-party billing, financial counseling, or medical terminology and coding preferred.
- Prior experience with Epic EMR preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge of computer systems and software, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word preferred.
