Certified Respiratory Therapist | Part Time | Nights
Position Overview:
The Certified Respiratory Therapist is responsible for executing all respiratory care functions across various nursing units and critical care environments, including but not limited to MICU, NICU, SICU, CSCU, PACU, Nursery, and Emergency Department.
This role involves assessing the therapeutic outcomes of respiratory interventions provided to patients, collaborating with physicians regarding any challenges patients may encounter with their therapy, and offering recommendations tailored to a diverse patient demographic.
The Certified Respiratory Therapist also plays a key role in orienting new respiratory care personnel, providing education and guidance on the utilization of available equipment.
Education Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory. Candidates must have graduated from an accredited, state-approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
Licensure:
Current licensure from the relevant health department is required, along with military-validated licensure where applicable.
Certifications:
Candidates must be credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist or, if holding a temporary license, must be eligible for certification and complete the necessary examination before the expiration of the temporary license. BCLS certification must be obtained by the end of orientation, with ongoing maintenance of current certification required. Additionally, certification in ACLS and Neonatal Resuscitation is necessary within a specified timeframe of employment.
Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience as a Certified Respiratory Therapist is preferred.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports directly to the Manager of Respiratory Care.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May supervise Respiratory Therapists as assigned.
Physical Demands:
This role is moderately active, requiring frequent movement throughout the facility and the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects, including patients. Safe lifting practices are essential, and assistance should be sought when necessary.
Daily activities involve various physical motions and may expose the individual to bodily fluids, which carry potential health risks.
Close visual acuity and the ability to discern sounds at normal speaking levels are essential for this role.
Mental Demands:
Strong mental acuity and decision-making capabilities are crucial. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for interacting with patients and colleagues.
Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in complex situations are required.
Special Requirements:
Exceptional customer service skills and professional demeanor are essential. Proficiency in computer usage, including keyboard skills and familiarity with office technology, is expected.
A valid driver’s license is required for travel within the service area.
