Job Summary

The Registered Nurse will independently plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care in patient care situations using standards of care, policy, and procedure. The nurse will provide direct nursing care to patients, assume teaching and leadership responsibilities, and participate in shared decision making, unit committee, and quality improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a plan that includes strategies to attain expected outcomes.
  • Implement the plan of care interventions and medical plan of care as appropriate.
  • Coordinate care delivery.
  • Employ patient teaching to promote health and safety.
  • Evaluate progress toward outcomes.
  • Practice ethically.
  • Attain knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice.
  • Integrate evidence and research findings into practice.
  • Contribute to quality nursing practice and shared decision making by supporting council decisions, implementation of decisions, and active participation in shared decision making.
  • Communicate effectively in all areas of practice.
  • Demonstrate leadership in the professional practice setting.
  • Collaborate with patient, family, the inter-professional team, and others in the conduct of nursing practice.
  • Utilize appropriate resources to plan and provide nursing services that are safe, effective, and financially responsible.
  • Practice in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.
  • Accountable to foster, participate, and be knowledgeable with the shared decision-making model of the NCH Healthcare System.
Requirements
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • All new to practice RN will be placed into the RN Residency Program.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
