Job Summary

We're seeking a skilled and compassionate CT Technologist to join our team at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission. In this role, you'll perform CAT Scan procedures, working under the direction of a Radiologist to acquire high-quality images for radiological diagnosis. Your attention to detail, technical expertise, and ability to work independently will be essential in providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Perform CAT Scan procedures, rotating on-call status as needed
  • Review patient requisitions and charts before starting exams
  • Administer opaque contrast material as directed by Radiologist
  • Start IV's on outpatients requiring IV contrast
  • Draw labs for Creatine when possible to expedite patient care
  • Communicate with nurses and physicians to expedite patient care
  • Locate orders, lab work, allergies, and other related resources on the patient in Power Chart
  • Send images to VRC in a timely manner and scan VRC report into PACS
  • Give oral contrast to abdomen and pelvis CAT Scan patients one to two hours prior to exams
  • Participate in the training of new CT techs
  • Operate Cerner System, proficiently, trouble-shooting problems with orders and making corrections within scope of user level
  • Complete and charge exams correctly on Cerner System
  • Send all exams to PACS System and know what to do if PACS is down
  • Adhere to radiation safety standards
  • Assume responsibility for assigned area and report equipment malfunctions
  • Follow 'Standard of Behavior' guidelines per hospital policy
  • Incorporate patient, physician, customer needs, and concerns into decision-making and organizational action
  • Follow the AIDET model (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank) for Personalized Patient Care Every Patient Every Time
  • Maintain ethical relationships and cooperate with all personnel in proper conduct of department
  • Demonstrate commitment to personal and professional development, pursuing appropriate continuing education
  • Professional appearance in accordance with dress code standards
  • Attend a minimum of 50% of scheduled department meetings and be accountable for obtaining information from missed meetings
  • Provide patient transportation when needed
  • Perform other related duties as required and deemed necessary per Radiology Director or Manager
