Instructional Aide for Special Education. Location: Copperas Cove Independent School District. Compensation: Minimum Starting Pay $13.60 per hour. Days/Hours: 187 days, 7.5 hours per day.

Position Overview:
Under the direct supervision of certified educational personnel, the role involves assisting professional staff in achieving educational objectives and alleviating non-instructional responsibilities to enhance the educational experience. Key Responsibilities:
  • Support and guide students in reinforcing skills in reading, language arts, mathematics, and technology.
  • Work with students individually and in small groups to enhance foundational learning and implement designated programs.
  • Assist educators in administering and grading classroom exercises, assessments, and tests.
  • Prepare classroom materials and strategies tailored to individual student needs.
  • Maintain accurate records to document student progress and performance.
  • Contribute to classroom management to minimize disruptions and ensure a conducive learning environment.
  • Supervise students in non-instructional settings, including lunch programs and outdoor activities.
  • Accompany students on educational excursions to provide supervision.
  • Prepare and distribute educational resources as required.
  • Facilitate communication with parents as requested to promote effective involvement in student education.
  • Support students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction to promote inclusion and achievement of IEP goals.
  • Participate in the IEP process and serve as a resource for the student evaluation team as necessary.
  • Assist students with physical or mental disabilities in daily living activities to enhance their participation in school activities.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while assisting all students, including those with special needs.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Support guidance and pupil services staff or school administration as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge for successful performance is acceptable.

Typical qualifications include:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of college-level coursework or passing of required examinations.
  • Prior experience working with children with special needs is preferred.
