The Sweeper Driver is a critical role at Athens Services Thousand Oaks Sustainability Center, responsible for operating a heavy-duty sweeper truck to maintain the cleanliness of our community's streets and parking lots.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a heavy-duty sweeper truck to clean streets and parking lots, ensuring efficient and safe service delivery.
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle, utilizing a standard Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).
- Ensure the vehicle is operating correctly while on the route, notifying Route Supervisor/Dispatch/Maintenance of any concerns.
- Understand and practice operating in accordance with Athens Services Safety Rules.
- Immediately report any unsafe situations or service calls to Route Supervisor/Dispatch before attempting service.
- Participate in scheduled training, briefings, and Safety meetings as required by the Company.
- Make use of standard tools and resources provided by the Company.
- Work closely with Route Supervisors to improve route efficiencies and identify on-road issues.
- Perform all duties as scheduled by Route Supervisor or Dispatch, assisting other company drivers as directed.
- Notify Route Supervisor of any incidents/accidents/injures/property damage.
- Provide a positive professional customer attitude when dealing with customers.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Class B Driver's License.
- 1 year of previous experience.
- Acceptable Driver Record.
- Able to meet all DOT requirements.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Work experience in the waste, environmental services, energy, or transportation industry.
This role requires standing, walking, seeing, hearing, and smelling continuously. Problem-solving, oral/written communication, analytical ability, concentration, and interpersonal abilities are also required continuously. Eye/hand coordination, handling, and wrist motion are required continuously. Bending, reaching, stretching, and lifting ≤ 50 Lbs. are required frequently.
This role also requires exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet/hot conditions, and noise continuously. Work is performed outside only.
