Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Pediatric LPN to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in assisting healthcare professionals in providing high-quality patient care. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Clinical Duties:
  • Preparing patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Taking and recording vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight.
  • Intake patients in Athenahealth, reconciling medications, allergies, history, and vaccinations.
  • Reviewing Scoring Sheets for ADHD, depression, and entering scores in EHR.
  • Collecting and processing patient samples for routine office testing and documenting results in EHR.
  • Performing basic laboratory tests, such as urinalysis and glucose testing.
  • Administering medications and injections as directed by MD or Nurse Practitioners.
  • Assisting with minor surgical procedures and wound care.
  • Autoclaving instruments after minor procedures.
  • Conducting EKGs, hearing, and vision testing.
  • Providing patient education and instructions on medication usage and preventive care.
  • Maintaining and cleaning medical equipment and examination rooms.
  • Triage sick patients or walk-ins and alerting MD or Nurse Practitioners if they need immediate medical attention.
Administrative Duties:
  • Monitoring wait times and assigning intake, office testing, and injections to other Medical Assistants to optimize workflow and improve patient satisfaction.
  • Reviewing and preparing charts for the next few days, updating vaccines, and reconciling history from patient portals.
  • Reviewing and/or recording temperature logs on FL Shots according to practice policy.
  • Reviewing VFC and Private Vaccine inventory weekly and alerting administration if low.
  • Providing school and shot record forms to parents at the end of visits.
  • Handling phone calls, inquiries, and requests from patients and other healthcare professionals.
  • Notifying admin assistants or practice managers of inventory of medical supply needs.
  • Collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure smooth workflow and effective patient care.
  • Requesting patient reviews if the patient was very satisfied with staff or provider.
Requirements:
  • Must hold a current and unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in pediatric nursing, including clinical assessments, administering medications, and providing direct care to infants, children, and adolescents.
  • Familiarity with common pediatric conditions, treatments, immunizations, and developmental milestones.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and the healthcare team in both verbal and written formats.
  • Proficient in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems for documenting patient care and following up on medical records.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with pediatricians, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and other healthcare staff to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a nurturing and patient-centered approach to care for young patients.
  • Attention to Detail: Accurate documentation, medication administration, and ability to monitor and report changes in patient conditions.
  • Previous experience in a pediatric clinic or hospital setting.
