The Kansas Geological Survey (KGS) is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time postdoctoral research role within the Geophysics/Exploration Services division. The successful applicant will collaborate with a research team focused on developing and implementing innovative methodologies utilizing machine learning (ML) and optimization techniques in the domains of signal processing, seismic imaging, and inversion.
Key Responsibilities
1. **Model Development**: Design and implement ML-based models and neural networks aimed at enhancing signal processing and seismic imaging capabilities.
2. **Research Dissemination**: Share research findings through presentations at conferences and publications in relevant journals.
3. **Professional Engagement**: Contribute to the scientific community and institution through collaborative efforts with fellow researchers, peer reviews, and public outreach initiatives.
Position Requirements
1. A Ph.D. in imaging science, computer science, mathematics, physics, earth science, or a closely related field, awarded within the last five years.
2. Proven experience in developing machine/deep learning algorithms, as demonstrated in application materials.
3. Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or MATLAB.
4. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
5. A record of peer-reviewed publications and/or conference presentations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with physics-informed neural networks.
- Experience in diffraction imaging and seismic inversion.
- Background in data processing techniques.

Compensation and Benefits
