Job Description:
In the role of Lead Analytical Chemist and Laboratory Supervisor, you will be pivotal in supporting our metallurgical engineering team by delivering precise analytical data and insights.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily functions of the analytical laboratory, encompassing sample preparation, analysis, data interpretation, and reporting.
Design and validate analytical methods for the evaluation of ores, intermediate products, and waste materials, employing a variety of instrumental techniques.
Collaborate closely with metallurgical engineers and researchers to aid process development activities, providing timely and accurate analytical results.
Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment, troubleshooting issues as necessary to guarantee optimal performance.
Train and mentor laboratory personnel, offering guidance on analytical techniques, instrument operation, and safety protocols.
Establish and uphold a comprehensive sample management system, monitoring sample inventory, storage conditions, and data records.
Identify opportunities for process enhancement and improvement through data analysis, method development, and technology integration.
Stay informed about emerging trends and advancements in analytical chemistry and metallurgical science, incorporating relevant methodologies into laboratory practices.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the laboratory, encouraging collaboration, creativity, and professional growth among team members.
Qualifications:
Master's or Ph.D. degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related field, with a focus on instrumental analysis and method development.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a laboratory environment, preferably in analytical chemistry or metallurgical research.
Proficiency in a diverse range of analytical techniques, including but not limited to spectroscopy, chromatography, microscopy, and elemental analysis.
Strong understanding of laboratory quality control principles, data integrity requirements, and regulatory compliance standards (e.g., ISO).
Experience with laboratory instrumentation and software platforms, such as ICP-MS, ICP-OES, XRF, SEM-EDS, and LIBS.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
Leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and mentor laboratory staff and foster a positive work environment.
Adaptability and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to addressing technical challenges and optimizing laboratory processes.
