Flight Test Operations Manager for Hybrid-Electric Aircraft

Job Summary

Electra Aero is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Flight Test Operations Manager for Hybrid-Electric Aircraft to join our team. As a member of our flight operations team, you will be responsible for managing flight test operations for our eSTOL aircraft, including all aspects of flight test instrumentation, data collection, test planning, and test execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Flight Test Operations Management: Manage flight test operations for the Electra EL-2 aircraft, including all aspects of flight test instrumentation, data collection, test planning, and test execution.
  • Flight Procedures and Operating Handbooks: Maintain flight procedures and operating handbooks for flight operations.
  • Flight Test Control Room Development: Lead the development of the flight test control room.
  • Flight Test Instrumentation Plan: Develop the flight test instrumentation plan and lead flight test operations for the Electra EL-3 aircraft.
  • System Integration: Managing functional and physical interfaces between the flight test instrumentation system and the vehicle.
  • Verification Activities: Leading verification activities (including analysis and testing) for the flight test instrumentation system.
  • Program Objectives and Requirements: Understanding program objectives and requirements to conduct trade studies and define architectures, requirements, and subsystem interfaces.
  • Design Reviews: Preparing and presenting at gated design reviews to demonstrate the adequacy of the design.
Requirements:
  • Education: B.S. in Aerospace or Computer Science Engineering (or related STEM discipline)
  • Experience: 6 or more years of experience in relevant discipline areas (or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced Degree: Advanced degree preferred
  • Prototype Development Experience: Experience working on prototype development programs
  • Electric Aircraft Experience: Experience with flight test operations of electric aircraft
  • Flight Test Data Reduction and Analysis: Experience with flight test data reduction and aerodynamic and propulsion system analysis
  • Programming Skills: Experience with MATLAB / Simulink
  • Citizenship Status: US Person (Citizen or Green Card) Preferred
  • Licensed Pilot: Licensed Pilot Preferred

Location: Headquarters in Manassas, VA. To encourage close collaboration, this position requires an onsite presence.
