Job Summary:

As a Water Resource Engineer at Cash Waggner & Associates, you will be responsible for performing structural and non-structural design, data collection, and analysis for various water-related resources and facilities. This includes waterways, pipelines, dams, dikes, culverts, canals, and other related structures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct field crew activities to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Consult with project stakeholders and managerial staff to provide guidance on engineering requirements for construction and modifications.
  • Use design software and drawing tools to accurately render and communicate designs, plans, and specifications.
  • Assess the strength of building materials by testing and analyzing data.
  • Set design specifications by computing load and grade requirements, material stress factors, and water flow rates.
  • Plan projects based on analysis of relevant materials, including drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, survey reports, and geologic and topographical data.
  • Draft and present reports on project-related topics, such as environmental impact statements and right-of-way descriptions.
  • Estimate materials, equipment, and labor needed to determine project costs.
  • Collaborate with engineers and contractors to ensure projects progress properly.
  • Collaborate with surveyors to establish installations or reference points, grades, elevations, and other factors that will affect construction.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure design specifications, safety, and sanitation standards are met.
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain structures as needed.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
  • Proficient in computer-assisted design (CAD) and other design, data recording, and analysis software.
  • Proficient in HEC-RAS or other simulation software used in computational fluid dynamics.
  • Thorough understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction, repair, or restoration of pipelines, dams, dikes, culverts, canals, and other water-related resources and facilities.
  • Thorough understanding of safety regulations related to assigned projects.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be both creative and analytical.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and accurate.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with an emphasis in Civil Engineering.
  • Licensure or ability to become licensed within 1 year of hire required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to travel to various project sites.
  • Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
