Job Title: Senior Electrical Development Engineer

Hitachi Energy is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Development Engineer to join our team in Bland, VA. As a key member of our electrical design and development team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of power transmission and distribution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the electrical design and development of dry type transformers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define customized designs with high priority on safety design aspects and identification and control of hazards
  • Design, analyze, and evaluate systems, products, or components, requiring a high degree of technical expertise
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize transformer design, manufacturing processes, and materials selection
  • Support prototype builds and testing activities, analyzing results, and recommending design modifications as necessary
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and development within the transformer team
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in transformer design and manufacturing, incorporating new methodologies and best practices into our development processes
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field and 3-5 years of experience in electrical design and development, with a focus on transformers in the power industry
  • Proficiency in CAD software/PTC Creo is preferred
  • Experience with programming languages such as C++ or C# preferred
  • Experience supporting technology implementation and Design to Value (DTV) initiatives
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences
