POSITION SUMMARY:
This role contributes to the mission of the Y, a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing community well-being through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Swim Lesson Instructor at the Plattsburgh YMCA fosters a secure and welcoming environment that respects all individuals while ensuring safe swimming practices in the pool and surrounding areas, adhering to YMCA guidelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver instruction to participants in alignment with YMCA Aquatics program standards, utilizing lesson plans, guided discovery techniques, effective class management, and fostering positive relationships with attendees.
- Prepare, dismantle, and organize equipment for each session.
- Understand and implement the Emergency Action Plan and Evacuation Procedures.
- Consistently and fairly enforce Aquatics safety regulations.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with participants, parents, non-participants, and colleagues.
- Engage actively in training sessions, scheduled meetings, and special events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 15 years old.
- Current certification in YMCA Swim Lessons or American Red Cross.
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
