Job Summary

The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist will perform radiologic procedures and examinations under the direction of radiologists or delegating practitioners to produce radiographic studies used in medical diagnosis. This role is responsible for providing high-quality imaging services in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide diagnostic imaging services using various modalities, including conventional x-ray, CR, DR, Fluoroscopy, Bone Density, and Urodynamics.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of radiation protection standards, skeletal system, and major organs to perform diagnostic procedures.
  • Provide services in inpatient, OR, ED, and outpatient settings, evaluating radiographs for technical quality.
  • Perform and assist with various clinical laboratory procedures, including phlebotomy, specimen processing, storage, handling, and transporting of specimens.
  • Exercise professional judgment in the performance of radiographic and laboratory procedures.
  • Provide patient care essential to radiographic procedures and recognize patient conditions requiring immediate action.
Requirements
  • Current licensure as a Radiologic Technologist by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic radiology principles and procedures, as well as operation and maintenance of radiologic equipment.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary for effective communication with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
  • Analytical skills to determine the best method of providing requested radiographs based on individual cases and technical principles.
  • CPR Training required and/or must be obtained and maintained within 45 days of hire.
Working Conditions

The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist will work in a radiology/imaging area with rare exposure to physical discomforts due to unpleasant odors from specimens and chemicals. Occasional exposure to infectious agents when handling specimens or hazardous materials, but potential for personal harm or injury is reduced when proper safety and health precautions are followed. Regular exposure to radiation. Minimum chance of injury once established safety procedures are followed.
