Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Budget Analyst to join our team at the City of Baytown. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring our budget plans to ensure financial stability and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounting Review/Analysis: Prepare financial reports and maintain transaction records for the City. Review accounts to determine availability of funds and make recommendations to resolve finance-related problems.
  • Budget: Assist in the preparation of the annual operating, capital, and component unit budgets as well as quarterly budget amendments. Serve as a liaison between departments and management to formulate and implement budget objectives.
  • Financial Planning: Develop and maintain financial plans, forecasts, and models to support budgeting and financial decision-making.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports to management and other stakeholders, including complex statistical forecasting models and trend analysis.
  • Position Control: Maintain and coordinate position control information between departments, Payroll, and Human Resources for accurate data entry into the system.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Two years of experience in budget, finance, or related field. OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, certification, and/or licenses sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate and maintain effective working relationships with employees, department directors, city management, and elected officials. Detail-oriented and able to accomplish duties in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
