We are seeking a skilled and compassionate School Nurse to join our team at Distinctive Schools. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff.
Responsibilities:- Provide direct healthcare services, including first aid, illness treatment, and emergency care to students and staff.
- Prepare health assessments on students and identify health problems, making referrals for diagnosis and treatment as needed.
- Develop educational modifications and provide follow-up and evaluation services to students with disabilities.
- Provide counseling and follow-up services to students with disabilities, as outlined in their IEP/504 plans.
- Follow up on homebound students requiring related health care services.
- Initiate, encourage, and participate in health education programs for children.
- Provide health counseling to parents of students with health conditions and individual and group health counseling to students with health conditions.
- Develop and implement medication protocols to safely store, administer, document, and monitor the effectiveness of medications given at school.
- Coordinate activities related to communicable disease regulations and assist with state and federal mandated screenings.
- Maintain accurate records, including inventory of materials, assessments, and supplies.
- Associate's Degree in Nursing.
- CPR certification.
- Valid Illinois nursing license (Certification as a school nurse or begins certification process once hired).
- 25+ paid holidays and 10 days PTO annually (in addition to summer break for educators/campus positions).
