Job Summary

As a Senior Orthopedic Technician at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our orthopedic team. Under the supervision of the Administrative Supervisor and/or Clinical Supervisor, you will perform orthopedic procedures, including applying casts, splints, braces, and bandages, in various areas such as the cast room, emergency room, and operating room.

Key Responsibilities
  • Orient and train new staff members on orthopedic procedures and techniques.
  • Coordinate activities with other clinic and hospital functions to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Act as a resource for non-department personnel in the care of orthopedic patients and use of traction equipment.
  • Recommend reorder points for cast room supplies and evaluate the necessity for acquisition of new equipment.
  • Apply casts, splints, and braces according to provider instructions and pre-determined procedures.
  • Assist providers in the operating room and emergency room as needed.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas and ensure operational readiness of equipment and supplies.
Requirements
  • One year of experience as an Ortho Tech within the past three years.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Orthopedic Technologist Certificate from National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and apply most kinds of casts, braces, and traction.
