The Lead Assembler is a key member of our manufacturing team, responsible for overseeing and coordinating the assembly process of products in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure efficient and effective assembly operations.
Key Responsibilities- Train and develop a team of assemblers to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Communicate and delegate daily priorities to team members, ensuring that production targets are met and quality standards are maintained.
- Release jobs to quality assurance and control (QA/QC) to ensure that products meet the required standards.
- Write purchase requisitions and order parts as needed to support production.
- Lead and mentor 6S and continuous improvement projects, including Kaizen events, to drive process improvements and increase efficiency.
- Lead quality initiatives to ensure that products meet the required standards and that quality issues are identified and addressed promptly.
- Communicate with other departments, such as engineering and quality assurance, to ensure that assembly operations are aligned with company goals and objectives.
- Review bill of materials and drawings for issues and ensure that they are corrected before production.
- Assist in interviews and new hire selection to ensure that the right candidates are hired for the team.
- Identify training needs for the group and develop appropriate training plans to ensure that team members have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Assist in tracking job efficiency and productivity to ensure that production targets are met and quality standards are maintained.
- Assist in employee evaluation process to ensure that team members are held accountable for their performance.
- Communicate passdown information to team members to ensure that they are aware of changes and updates to production processes.
- Lead safety and quality meetings to ensure that team members are aware of safety and quality issues and that they are addressed promptly.
- Support the enforcement of company policies and safety program to ensure that team members are held accountable for their actions.
- Minimum education level of a High School Diploma or General Education Equivalent Diploma is preferred.
- 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of system software (i.e. Oracle, MES, True View) to look up parts and drawings.
- Lift up to 50lbs using proper lifting techniques.
- Knowledge and understanding of Engineering Change orders.
- Read and understand spec sheets and follow proper use of hardware by spec requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of single and three-line drawings, including symbols.
- Ability to identify part discrepancies and properly write HFDs for corrections.
- Knowledge of mechanical drawings and designs.
- Ability to complete complex engineering changes.
- Effectively demonstrates on-time delivery and the ability to stay focused on goals and responsibilities.
- Self-starter with ability to take on multiple tasks with a drive to succeed.
- Challenges the status quo; looks for better or more efficient ways to get results.
- Ability to adapt to new ideas, technology, processes or product changes.
