Ordnance Engineer II Job Description

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As an Ordnance Engineer II, you'll play a critical role in designing, developing, and integrating explosive hardware for our launch vehicles and spacecraft.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop innovative solutions for ordnance and explosive hardware
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware into launch vehicles and spacecraft
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and test procedures
  • Conduct testing and validation of ordnance and explosive hardware
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience with ordnance and explosive hardware
  • Strong mechanical system design and integration skills
  • Ability to read and apply industry standards, such as AIAA-S113 and RCC-319
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with explosive hardware throughout its lifecycle
  • Experience with initiators, detonators, frangible joints, and cartridge/propellant actuated devices
  • Experience certifying ordnance per industry standards
  • Experience with System Engineering principles as they apply to human space flight hardware
