We strategically allocate our clients' capital into a diverse array of fixed income and credit opportunities, utilizing our years of experience in navigating intricate debt markets. Our robust capital base and strong relationships with issuers have positioned us as one of the leading providers of both traditional and innovative solutions for organizations requiring financing and investors pursuing robust risk-adjusted returns.

We are committed to investing in our employees and instilling our CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Responsibility, and Excellence. We believe in fostering an environment where everyone contributes to the success of others, which has earned PIMCO recognition as an innovator and trusted advisor in the industry.

Position Overview
We are in search of a seasoned Quantitative Strategist to become a part of our Alternatives Investment team. Our Alternatives division has been consistently expanding its fund offerings and remains a pivotal growth driver for the firm, focusing on investments in asset-backed structured products and private equity across various regions. These funds emphasize fundamental and relative valuation across diverse capital structures and asset classes, particularly in performing and non-performing loans within residential, commercial, and consumer credit sectors.

Key Responsibilities
This role provides an opportunity to collaborate with a leading deal team in assessing and pricing complex transactions across banking, asset servicing, insurance/re-insurance, and lending markets. You will be tasked with:
  • Evaluating private investment opportunities in special situations, specialty finance, and other unconventional assets.
  • Contributing to the firm's analytical framework through the creation of new pricing models and programming libraries.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of collaborating with front office teams to apply quantitative methodologies in analyzing structured finance, credit derivatives, and CDO/CLO opportunities. You should be enthusiastic about engaging with some of the most intricate deals and structures in the industry.

Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, science, engineering, statistics, or physics.
  • Strong quantitative capabilities, particularly in financial mathematics, probability, and statistics as applied to valuation and pricing models.
  • A minimum of 4 years of front office quantitative experience at a leading sell-side or buy-side firm.
  • Experience with structured finance, credit derivatives, and CDO/CLOs, along with a solid understanding of corporate finance and some exposure to consumer credit.
  • Proficient programming skills and numerical problem-solving techniques, with a focus on scripting languages (Python or Slang).
  • Preference for candidates with 4+ years of professional Python development experience and in-depth knowledge of Python 3.6+.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a results-oriented mindset. A self-starter who is accountable, low ego, and motivated to integrate with the trading floor.
  • Able to clearly articulate issues and explain concepts to portfolio managers and developers.
  • Ethical, collaborative, organized, flexible, and energetic.

Compensation
PIMCO employs a comprehensive compensation strategy that includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. The base salary is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus rewards performance based on company, business, team, and individual achievements.
