Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant provides daily nursing care and services to residents in accordance with their assessment and care plan, and as directed by supervisors. This role requires administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability for carrying out assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with federal and state regulations and established company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, and other documents.
  • Report any changes in a resident's condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
  • Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with the facility's established policies and procedures and as instructed by supervisors.
  • Follow work assignments and schedules to complete and perform assigned tasks.
  • Ensure residents' rooms are ready for receiving residents.
  • Inventory and mark residents' personal possessions as instructed.
  • Transport residents to new rooms or receiving areas.
  • Assist residents with daily dental and mouth care, including brushing teeth/dentures, oral hygiene, and special mouth care.
  • Assist residents with bath functions, such as bed baths, tub or shower baths, as directed.
  • Assist residents with dressing/undressing as necessary.
  • Assist residents with hair care functions, including combing, brushing, and shampooing.
  • Assist residents with nail care, including clipping, trimming, and cleaning finger/toenails (excluding diabetic residents).
  • Shave residents as needed.
  • Keep residents dry.
  • Makes beds.
  • Maintain intake and output records as instructed.
  • Assist in preparing for medical tests.
  • Assist with activity and social programs.
  • Check each resident routinely to ensure their personal care needs are being met in accordance with their wishes.
  • Provide post-mortem care as instructed.
Requirements:
  • Unencumbered, active CNA certification in the state of employment.
  • Possess a sincere desire to work with elders and others with a limited capacity for self-care.
  • Mental and physical capacity to perform the essential job functions with or without accommodations.
  • Work with and provide care to individuals of a wide range of personality types and maturity levels.
  • Demonstrate creative initiative and mature judgment in making competent decisions.
  • Consistently maintain a courteous, empathetic, and professional attitude.
  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all activity, persons, and records.
  • Communicate and comprehend orally and in writing to effectively receive and share information as necessary to perform job duties.
  • Transportation accessible to enable flexibility of work schedule.
Education/Experience:
  • Must possess, as a minimum, a GED and Certified Nursing Assistant Course (120 hours).
  • Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with the laws of this state.
