Position Overview

The role of the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) involves executing responsibilities within an information assurance and cybersecurity framework, aimed at supporting advanced computing systems and innovative solutions to diverse technical challenges associated with classified initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitates system architecture and resolves issues related to data acquisition and transmission for immediate Cyber Defense Operations.
  • Applies the Risk Management Framework (RMF), which encompasses Assessment and Accreditation (A&A) processes.
  • Delivers Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) assistance.
  • Ensures systems are managed in compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) regulations and protocols.
  • Maintains baseline systems in alignment with DoD Certification and Accreditation (C&A) standards.
  • Generates Information Assurance (IA) documentation and reports.
  • Processes System Authorization Access Request (SAAR) forms efficiently.
  • Employs Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) for effective documentation oversight.
  • Utilizes ServiceNow (or Remedy) for managing trouble tickets.
  • Provides assistance in escalating issues and communicating status updates to DoD entities and internal stakeholders.
  • Conducts comprehensive risk evaluations on systems, networks, and Cybersecurity operations.
  • Safeguards information against unauthorized access, exposure, misuse, disruption, or alteration.
  • Exhibits strong communication skills, particularly with remote clients.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree or four years of relevant experience may substitute for formal education.

Essential Skills:

  • Familiarity with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Understanding of Assured Compliance Assessment Solutions (ACAS) scanning procedures.
  • Proficient in the Risk Management Framework (RMF) methodology.

Mandatory Certification:

  • Must possess and maintain a current IAT Level II Certification (such as Security+ce, GSEC, GICSP, SSCP, CySA+, CND, or CCNA-Security) as per DoD guidelines.

Security Clearance:

  • An active DoD-issued Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance is required.
