Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Assistant to join our team at Connecticut Children's. As a Patient Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our young patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Patient Care: Provide direct patient care that addresses the unique needs of our patients, including assisting with feedings, personal care, and vital sign collection.
  • Documentation: Accurately document patient information on appropriate forms and demonstrate basic data entry and retrieval competency in electronic patient records.
  • Unit Support Activities: Maintain inventory of unit supplies, clean and maintain equipment, and perform quality control checks as directed by the RN.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and awareness in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification preferred.
  • Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills, ability to effectively communicate in English, and basic math and measurement skills.
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification required; Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) training certification required within 3 months of hire.
