The Cardiac Imaging Specialist will perform imaging procedures at a technical level that does not require constant supervision. This role demands the ability to competently execute a variety of technical procedures, utilizing independent judgment and ingenuity to identify critical pathologies.


Key Responsibilities:

• Communicate effectively with patients, providing clear instructions and explanations of procedures to alleviate their concerns and encourage cooperation.

• Ensure accurate patient identification in accordance with established policies. Review patient histories and assess physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols to optimize data acquisition.

• Document patient histories in the electronic record as required.

• Utilize appropriate ultrasound equipment and demonstrate proficiency in its operation, applications, and scanning techniques to ensure high-quality image data and documentation.

• Exhibit strong interpersonal skills while interacting with patients and colleagues, demonstrating a high level of care, respect, and dignity.

• Collaborate effectively as a team member within the department and across other departments to enhance patient care.

• Ensure that all completed examinations are accurately coded and identified for electronic processing and storage, in line with departmental standards. Ensure proper charge entry for performed exams.

• Conduct Cardiac Ultrasound procedures following guidelines set by the Medical Director, adhering to established timeframes and protocols. Procedures include Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, Stress Echocardiography, and Echo with contrast.

• Uphold system-wide and departmental values, policies, and procedures in all professional conduct.

• Demonstrate the ability to function independently within a reasonable timeframe, covering shifts, on-call responsibilities, and providing services at satellite facilities as needed, while maintaining communication with the lead and management team.

• Assist physicians with invasive procedures as necessary, adhering strictly to universal protocol standards.

• Acquire appropriate echocardiographic images in accordance with departmental policies and industry standards, including M-Mode, 2D, Doppler, Color Flow Doppler, Transesophageal echo, echo enhancement, bubble and contrast studies, and Stress echocardiography.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• Registered or registry-eligible with the physics portion of the registry preferred. Must obtain registry within 12 months of hire.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.

• Compliance with Act 33, 34, and 73 as required by business unit in Pennsylvania locations.

• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal.

• Act 33 with renewal.

• Act 34 with renewal.

• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
