Job Title: Orthotist

Job Summary:

Evaluate and treat patients with orthotic needs, designing and fitting custom-made orthoses to alleviate limitations and enhance functioning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess patient condition and determine treatment plan
  • Elicit patient interpretation of current situation and expected outcome
  • Communicate with prescribing physician to clarify expectations and design options
  • Formulate comprehensive treatment plan based on input from prescribing physician, patient, and rehabilitation team members
  • Select appropriate prefabricated orthosis or design custom orthosis to achieve prescribed outcome
  • Measure and cast patient, correct and modify positive molds, and provide design specifications to central fabrication lab
  • Fits patient with completed orthosis, adjusts as necessary, and provides instruction on proper use and care
  • Provides follow-up care to ensure successful treatment outcomes and documents all patient contacts
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and adjusts orthoses as required
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 1 year managerial/supervisory experience
  • Minimum 5 years related work experience
  • Certified Orthotist - American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics (ABCOP)
