Job Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare meals in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring high-quality food service.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, adhering to safe food handling practices at all times.
  • Comply with all health department regulations regarding food production and kitchen maintenance.
  • Ensure cleanliness of kitchen work areas, equipment, and dining spaces.
  • Understand and accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies of residents when preparing meals.
  • Follow safety protocols while using kitchen equipment and report any accidents or injuries immediately.
  • Assist in the preparation of food for catered events, ensuring presentation is appealing.
  • Support the head chef in the overall management of kitchen operations.
  • Participate in the sanitation of food preparation areas on an ongoing basis.
  • Supervise kitchen staff as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and execute recipes independently.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of cooking techniques.
  • Proficient in preparing a variety of dishes, including meats, fish, soups, sauces, vegetables, and desserts, with attention to presentation.
  • Knowledge of food service methods, sanitation principles, and safe food handling practices, with sensitivity to the needs of elderly and disabled individuals.
  • Current Serve-Safe Certification is required.
  • Completion of Allergy Awareness Training is necessary.
  • Anti-choking training certification is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
