About the Role:
As a part of Abbott Rapid Diagnostics, which is integrated within Abbott's Diagnostics division, you will join a team of skilled professionals and utilize state-of-the-art technologies to facilitate diagnostic testing that provides crucial insights for disease management and treatment.
Position Summary:
The Senior Bioconjugation Scientist role is situated within our Toxicology division, where you will be integral to technical manufacturing processes and laboratory analytical functions. This position is vital to the Bioconjugation Chemistry Laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and batch records for the conjugation of small molecules with enzymes, proteins, and peptides to produce reagents for various diagnostic platforms.
2. Execute purification processes for enzyme conjugates utilizing techniques such as gel filtration chromatography, dialysis, and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
3. Conduct in-process performance evaluations of enzyme conjugates using absorbance readers and chemistry analyzers.
4. Assist in the qualification and transition of analytical methods from research and development to technical operations, including the execution of assays and report preparation.
5. Analyze and maintain data in accordance with applicable SOPs and document activities following cGMP standards.
6. Investigate and resolve out-of-specification events and prepare necessary buffers, reagents, and solutions for analyses.
7. Maintain laboratory equipment and perform routine temperature monitoring.
8. Collaborate with inter-departmental teams as required.

Understand the quality implications of your work and maintain professional behavior that positively reflects the company’s values.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biology with 2-5 years of laboratory experience, or a Master’s degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry with 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Previous experience in a chemical diagnostics laboratory and a cGMP environment is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with laboratory software and database management.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of medical devices or diagnostics.
- Ability to analyze diverse problems and exercise judgment in selecting appropriate methods for solutions.
