Job Title:

Project Manager II - Water/Wastewater Services

Job Summary:

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead water and wastewater projects in the greater Austin area. The successful candidate will have a strong background in project management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients and team members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and serve as the lead Project Manager on major area Austin Water & Wastewater projects.
  • Provide technical guidance, senior leadership, and mentoring engineering staff to enhance our water services design capabilities.
  • Be responsible for scope, schedule, budget development, monitoring and adherence for projects managed.
  • Complete Quality Assurance/Quality Control of key deliverables and assist on projects managed by others in the office.
  • Assist Client Service Leaders with technical marketing meeting clients in the Austin region.
  • Participation in professional societies relevant to the industry.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with key decision makers in our clients' organizations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 7 years of related experience.
  • PMP (PMI), CCM or DBIA certification is required (within 12 months of hire or promotion onto the Approved Project Manager list).
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental or chemical engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional engineering (PE) license.
  • Previous experience working on and managing projects for municipal water resources, wastewater, drinking water, conveyance clients.
  • Previous experience managing multi-discipline project teams.
  • Excellent communication, networking and team building skills.
  • Previous experience working directly with clients.
  • Master's degree.
  • Previous experience working and managing projects for municipal clients in, the greater Austin market.
  • Previous business development experience including preparation of proposals and scopes of work and cost estimates for municipal clients.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience working with project management methodology including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, project management software and finance and accounting concepts and practices.
  • Demonstrates good communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of project goals, drivers, strategies, risks and opportunities.
  • Work requires verbal skills, ability to interact with varying levels of staff, as well as vendors.
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills for interacting with team members and clients.
  • Ability to deal with many people and process a large volume of requests as necessary.
  • Good personal computer skills including advanced knowledge in the use of MS Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrates organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.

CDM Smith reserves the right to require background checks including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc. as well as credit and motor vehicle when applicable for certain positions. In addition, CDM Smith may conduct drug testing for designated positions.
