Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanic to join our team at Valiant Integrated Services. As an HVAC Mechanic, you will be responsible for installing, servicing, and repairing environmental-control systems in various settings, including residences, office buildings, and commercial establishments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tend to ventilating and heating equipment, including fans, vacuum pumps, air compressors, vents, and ducts, and lubrication oil coolers.
  • Install, service, and repair environmental-control systems, utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout.
  • Mount compressors and condenser units on platforms or floors, using hand tools and following blueprints or engineering specifications.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment.
  • Install evaporator units in chassis or air-duct systems, using hand tools.
  • Cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools.
  • Join tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings, or unions, and solder joints, using a torch, forming complete circuits for refrigerant.
  • Install expansion and discharge valves in circuits.
  • Connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connect control panels to power sources.
  • Install air and water filters in completed installations.
  • Inject small amounts of refrigerant into compressors to test systems and add Freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressures.
  • Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to ensure proper operation.
  • Test joints and connections for gas leaks, using gauges or soap and water solutions.
  • Wrap pipes in insulation batting and secure them in place with cement or wire bands.
  • Replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units, using electrician's hand tools and test equipment.
  • May install, repair, and service air conditioners, ranging from 15 to 20 tons cooling capacity, in warehouses and small factory buildings.
Requirements
  • CFC/EPA Certification (Universal Certification), required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act.
  • Two-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work in a sitting position for 8 or more hours per day.
  • Must be able to lift to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Must be able to travel to job locations by automobile and/or commercial airline as required.

The compensation for this position is $28.22/hour with H&W of $8.92/hour and an extra $2.00/hour towards a 401k (if H&W money is left over, it will go into your 401k).
