Job Overview

AIS Inc. is seeking an experienced Marine Scientist to join their team in Alaska. As a Marine Scientist, you will be responsible for collecting biological samples and recording data on commercial fishing vessels.

About the Job:

This is a unique opportunity to work with AIS Inc., a national provider of marine science services, supporting maritime activities along the US coastline. The primary goal of the North Pacific Observer Program is to provide quantitative biological information for the groundfish and halibut fisheries in Alaska.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Collecting biological samples and recording data on commercial fishing vessels
  • Deploying on commercial fishing vessels operating in the Gulf of Alaska, Bering Sea, and Aleutian Islands or at processing plants
  • Working independently and as part of a team to achieve program goals

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the natural sciences with a minimum of 30 semester hours in the biological sciences
  • At least one course that required extensive use of dichotomous keys
  • Experience with data entry on computers
  • Candidates must be U.S. citizens and physically able to perform biologist duties

Benefits:

AIS Inc. offers a competitive salary range of $50,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. Additional benefits include health, vision, and dental insurance, vacation, sick, and holiday pay, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
