Nuclear Medicine Imaging Specialist

At Cardiovascular Institute of the South, we are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing health care services by applying radionuclides to assist in diagnosis or treatment.
Key responsibilities include performing nuclear medicine procedures, related techniques, and producing images for interpretation by licensed practitioners. The ideal candidate will exercise professional judgment in the performance of services and maintain a demeanor complementary to medical ethics.
Requirements:
- Licensed by the Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and/or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Good communication skills
Key Duties:
- Corroborates patient's clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
- Prepares patient for procedures by providing instructions to obtain desired results, gains cooperation, and minimizes anxiety.
- Selects and operates radiation detection, imaging, and/or associated equipment to successfully perform procedures.
- Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
- Evaluates images and data for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded.
- Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.
- Understands methods and is capable of performing venipunctures and initiates basic life support action when necessary.
- Assist in staffing other clinics and departments when needed.
Standards of Performance:
- Keeps work area neat and organized. Reports safety issues to team leader immediately.
- Works efficiently and manages time wisely. Assist other employees when all duties are complete.
- Communicates any problems, difficulties, or concerns regarding job duties to the team leader.
- Performs all duties without significant error occurring with any regularity.
- Meets all deadlines and timeframes for completion of assignments.
- Represents CIS in a professional manner at all times. Demonstrates acceptable ability to interact with physicians, staff, and patients on a professional level at all times.
- Exhibits good communication skills with physicians, patients, team leaders, and co-workers at all times.
- Exhibits a harmonious relationship with other CIS employees in order to accomplish the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Adheres to the CIS Compliance Plan as it pertains to the above specific job duties.
- Performs accurate and complete documentation in the patient's medical record, when applicable.
- Maintains patient confidentiality according to the HIPAA standards of privacy and security.
