Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting. As a CVICU RN, you will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Job Summary:

This 13-week contract position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in a CVICU setting. You will work 12-hour day shifts, every other weekend, with a guaranteed 36 hours per week. The ideal candidate will have experience recovering fresh hearts directly from the OR within the past 6 months and be proficient in Cerner.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide intensive nursing care to patients in a CVICU setting.
  • Manage patient care in a 10-bed unit with 1:1 or 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratios.
  • Support provided by unit clerk/secretary for room setup, phone answering, and call light management.
  • Adhere to shift requirements: 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with holiday shifts as needed and based on rotation.
  • Float to other ICUs or ER for inpatient ICU holds as needed.
  • Participate in one shift of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor.
  • Handle common diagnoses/conditions including TAVR, Impella, IABP, lumbar drains, Swanz, STEMI, AAA, hypothermia, sepsis, and other MedSurg ICU patients, with a focus on cardiovascular and cardiothoracic cases.
  • Work under the guidance of an intensivist available onsite from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with on-call availability after hours.
  • Utilize Philips central monitors and Draeger, Hamilton G5, and Galileo ventilators.
  • Collaborate with a 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy team.
  • Comply with the cancellation policy allowing up to three shifts canceled per contract without compromising payment terms.
Requirements:
  • Navy blue scrub color required, with navy, white, or black undershirts allowed.
  • No self-scheduling; time-off requests to be submitted prior to contract start for managerial approval.
