Evening Housekeeping Attendant

Schedule: 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM - with rotating weekends
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Upholds established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety protocols, environmental standards, and infection control measures.
2. Dusts and cleans furniture, woodwork, and equipment while ensuring floors are maintained with dust mops.
3. Operates mechanical cleaning equipment such as floor cleaners, polishers, and vacuums.
4. Wet mops rooms, hallways, staircases, and communal areas to ensure cleanliness.
5. Performs shampooing of carpets and upholstery. Cleans vents, fans, and other equipment as needed.
6. Cleans high areas including ceiling fixtures, windows, and door frames using ladders.
7. Collects and disposes of trash and waste materials in accordance with safety standards.
8. Operates trash compactors efficiently.
9. Moves furniture and heavy objects as necessary to facilitate cleaning.
10. Buffs, strips, waxes, and polishes floors to maintain their appearance.
11. Cleans and disinfects all bathroom fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors, and walls.
12. Removes and replaces draperies, blinds, and cubicle curtains as required.
13. Sweeps sidewalks and clears snow when necessary.
14. Participates in the hospital fire brigade as needed.
15. Engages in educational programs and in-service meetings to enhance skills.
16. Attends required meetings to stay informed on departmental updates.
17. Performs additional related duties as assigned or requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Basic education in reading and writing is required, along with the ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
EXPERIENCE: Previous experience is preferred but not mandatory. On-the-job training will be provided.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE: Familiarity with common cleaning devices is essential.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
PATIENT CONTACT: Interaction with individuals of all ages and conditions.
PERSONAL DEMANDS: Must be willing to perform routine, repetitive tasks consistently, accept supervision, and handle interruptions. Ability to tolerate various cleaning solutions is necessary.
MACHINE OPERATION: Willingness to learn the operation of buffers, scrubbers, carpet shampooers, and trash compactors or any other equipment required for the role.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
STANDING: Ability to remain on feet for 7 3/4 hours during an eight-hour shift.
WALKING: Frequent walking, stooping, bending, stretching, and climbing of ladders will be required.
LIFTING: Capability to lift up to 75 pounds is necessary.
VISUAL: Good eyesight is essential to assess cleaning needs.
HEARING & SPEECH: Must be able to respond to pages, communicate on the telephone, and interact with patients, visitors, and co-workers.
ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURE: Will be exposed to various weather conditions.
